CBRE has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Burgess Rawson, a market leader in Australia’s private and high-net-worth commercial property investor market.

The acquisition doesn’t include the WA and ACT Burgess Rawson businesses, which are separately owned.

The acquisition will significantly strengthen CBRE’s Metropolitan Investments business, which focuses on commercial property assets and development sites valued at up to AUD$35 million.

The CBRE Metropolitan Investments team will be led by Burgess Rawson CEO, Ingrid Filmer.

The transaction is expected to be completed next month. 

Finbar has announced that Ronald Chan has been appointed Chief Executive Officer. The Board has brought forward the appointment of Mr Chan from 29 August 2025, to ensure smooth handover and operation.

Mr Chan joined Finbar in 2004 and was appointed Chief Operating Officer in 2013.

Knight Frank has appointed a new Head of Asset Management Services for Queensland, with Mel Kite being promoted to the role.

Mel has more than 20 years’ experience in the property industry, spanning asset management, operations, marketing and communications.

She has been with Knight Frank for two and a half years, starting as Centre Manager within the Region Group portfolio before being promoted to Senior Centre Manager and subsequently Regional Portfolio Manager.

Piper Alderman has announced 17 midyear promotions across the firm with effect from 1 July 2025, including five special counsel, five senior associates, five associates and two in business services.

The firm’s newly promoted special counsel includes Brisbane-based Lauren Abbott (Real Estate), Melbourne-based Rob Norton (Dispute Resolution & Litigation), Adelaide-based Travis Shueard (Intellectual Property), and from the Sydney office within the Dispute Resolution & Litigation team, Roselina Kruize and Oendri Neogi.

Sydney- based Claire Wong has been promoted to Senior Associate (Real Estate) while Adelaide-based Alex Turner has been promoted to Associate (Real Estate).
