Raymond Yuan, Junior Analyst, Stamford Capital

Three words to describe my job… Fast-paced, collaborative and fun 020621 - Story 4 - Secret Stars - Raymond Yuan

When I explain my role to people outside the property industry, I say… We operate in the real estate capital market space. In a nutshell, we act as trusted advisers in procuring financing solutions for property developers and investors. This can mean anything and everything in between structuring and sourcing the funds required to build the next big residential development project, to advising on the acquisition of a local shopping centre.

My three daily work essentials are… My colleagues, sparkling water and coffee.

The biggest lesson I’ve learnt in my role… The relationship is often more important than the transaction itself!

My career motivation is… To be constantly learning and to be challenged. My motivation is to become a pivotal part of the industry where I am able to share my knowledge with others, deliver outcomes for our clients, and to be able to make a positive and genuine contribution to our industry.

My advice to others considering a career in my field… You don’t need an academic background in real estate or property for that matter, however, a genuine and keen interest will go a long way.

The building or project that embodies what I do… Too many transactions to choose from… However recently advising on the turnaround of a distressed portfolio of properties certainly highlights the essence of our capacity as a trusted adviser to our clients. `

The inspirational quote I live by… Genius is one per cent talent and 99 per cent percent hard work.

This year I’ll be… Enjoying the journey and seizing every opportunity that comes my way.
