The first phase of construction at Perth’s East Green development kicks off, transforming a former primary school site into a new community with up to 100 homes.
Frasers Property Australia has announced the commencement of civil works at the East Green housing development in Greenwood, around 17 kilometres from the Perth CBD.
Frasers Property and the WA Department of Communities promise to deliver an inclusive community with between 80 and 100 new homes.
The masterplan for the 3.86-hectare site accommodates house and land packages and land-only sales in a wide range of lot sizes.
Paying homage to the former East Greenwood Primary School on which the development is situated, the masterplan preserves Greenwood’s history and natural amenity by dedicating more than 25 per cent of land to parkland and open space.
More than half of all housing will overlook an expansive parkland. Existing native and grass trees will be retained where possible and complemented by extensive new native plantings and landscaping.
Walkways through the community will provide outdoor recreational spaces and create connections with the broader community.
The project has been awarded a 5 Star Green Star Communities rating from the Green Building Council of Australia.
Tod O’Dwyer, Frasers Property Australia’s general manager for residential WA, says the commencement of civil works at East Green is “an important milestone for the community”.
The heart of East Green will be its central park featuring a barbecue station, picnic facilities and a children’s playground. This will be one of the first community assets delivered, and O’Dwyer says his team is “working hard” to open the space up “as soon as possible”.
“It’s going to be a fantastic, vibrant meeting place for residents and the wider Greenwood community where they can meet, relax and enjoy the facilities.”
When complete, East Green residents will enjoy the convenience of an established suburb surrounded by amenity, health support services, schools and sports facilities, with bus stops, train stations and key arterial roads all nearby.
The project will be delivered in four stages. Sales for the first stage are anticipated to launch in the second half of 2020.
