“If you’re not innovating, you’re an imitator- we want to assist fellow members at this time.” Steve Wilson of Premier Film Distribution details the quick thinking that created a growth opportunity during a crisis.
Prior to the COVID-19 crisis, Premier Film Distribution helped businesses save money through installing energy efficient window films. While this work persists, new priorities for the Property Council member have emerged.
“We had to change how we approached doing business if we wanted to stay in business,” says Wilson.
“We are entering a whole new world. It’s changed the materials that we are offering and how we deliver those materials.”
Anti-Microbial, Sterile Barrier Films, such as Pure Zone is one of Premier Film Distribution’s solutions. Its surface is iodised to kill bacteria to mitigate risk in sterile environments. In the presence of humidity, silver ions are released from the top layer of the film. These ions come into contact with the bacteria, blocking their metabolism and destroying them.
Wilson says his company took a commercial risk in order to see this new product come to market. The cost in the absence of normal sales is “massive, but necessary”.
Once the idea got off the ground, a new question arose: “What else could we be doing?”
Changing the delivery and installation process for films is a new aspect of Premier Film Distribution’s working model. The installers have undertaken COVID-19 basic hygiene control course, specifically around construction sites and buildings, to upskill its workforce.
Wilson says COVID-19 has been an “innovation wakeup call to work place hygiene” you will see from the link below that Pure Zone does NOT prevent COVID-19 but assists in minimising risk by creating a Sterile Barrier over most working surfaces.
“You really have to step up to the pitch and respond to the needs of others. If you’re not responding to the demands of the market, you won’t see the other side.
“We want to help business through this period, but we are also looking for ways to improve in the future. Now is the time to look at the processes you currently have and for ways in which you can refine them. Though it is certainly a stressful time, it is also a time for innovation.”
