Victoria’s city skyline has developed and altered over the last two years, a visual testament to the property industry’s resilience in the face of uncertainty, and a new Victorian industry award is set to celebrate the people behind the buildings.
Nicole Battley, the Property Council’s Victorian commercial director, had an idea when reflecting on the changes to the built environment that happened during the pandemic.
“It’s the people in our industry who are the driving force behind the projects that shape our cities and regions, creating the spaces that we all enjoy as a community,” she said.
In consulting with an expert member advisory group, a plan was hatched to devise a People in Property Awards program to acknowledge and celebrate the people behind Victoria’s best projects.
“The People in Property Awards has been designed to celebrate the people in our industry and their stories, recognise those who are pushing the boundaries in their field, and celebrate innovation and leadership across six exciting award categories,” Battley said.
Eric Chandler, regional director at KONE, which has partnered with the Property Council to deliver the awards program, said that with life becoming more normal, it was time to showcase accomplishments that needed thinking outside the box in difficult times.
“The beauty of the People in Property Awards is that it not only rewards the individuals who have contributed over a significant period to the property industry, but there’s a real focus on acknowledging the rising stars and teams who are leading from the front,” he said.
“Recognition of this scale is such an important part of developing the next generation of talent, allowing them to strengthen their industry profile, and showcase their alignment to their company’s vision and work.
“Our industry is characterised by strong leaders who promote collaboration, openness and accountability to drive incredible results not just for our sector, but also the people who live and work in the spaces we create.”
Nominations for the People in Property Awards are now open and will close on Friday 22 April. The event will take place at the KONE People in Property Awards Gala at Crown Palladium on the 23rd of June.
