Spotlight on Milk Crate Theatre – Changing the story of homelessness

We recently had Milk Crate Theatre at Property Council to brief us on their performing arts programs and ways in which the property industry can get involved to provide opportunities for members of our community who are experiencing homelessness and challenging issues such as mental health, financial and emotional trauma.

Milk Crate Theatre works within a Community Arts and Cultural Development model, meaning their work is community created and collaborative. Practicing artists facilitate programs and projects where participants are encouraged to contribute ideas, share stories and engage in creative expression within a safe and supported environment.

The organisation is always looking for properties to host their shows and display their creative arts, so if you are interested in getting involved, making a donation or volunteering with Milk Crate Theatre you can read more here.

Learn more about their recent community project in Waterloo here, and ways in which public spaces can be utilised here.
