Winner of the Pathfinder award, Ash Nicholson.

The Property Council of Australia has acknowledged some of property’s most influential individuals through the NSW nbn People in Property Awards held at Darling Island Wharf.

The inaugural nbn People in Property Awards recognised the best individuals in their field and served as a platform to acknowledge the remarkable achievements in shaping the future of the built environment.

Property Council’s Acting NSW Executive Director Anita Hugo said all winners should be proud of their remarkable achievements.

“This appreciation serves as a testament to their outstanding contribution and unwavering dedication to excellence in the property industry,” Ms Hugo.

“It was fantastic to see commitment to innovation, sustainability, and exemplary leadership recognised in this way.

“All of the winners represent a true reflection of passion and vision, setting new standards and inspiring others within the industry.

“To win one of these awards is a significant honour, highlighting their exceptional accomplishments and the positive impact they have made in their respective area.”

People in Property Award winners 2023:

PATHFINDER: Ash Nicholson – CBRE

This recognition highlights the power of industry collaboration in driving innovation. A big thanks to the Property Council for recognising the value of collaboration in our ever-changing business landscape.

This award recognises not only my efforts, but a celebration of the collective actions that continue to lead the future of our cities. I’d also like to take a moment to acknowledge my incredible team. Innovation takes a village and I feel so lucky to work with some of the most talented people. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to work with exceptional individuals and organizations, whose diverse perspectives and expertise have enriched the solutions we have delivered.

RISING STAR: Rebecca Fitzgerald – Investa

I feel so flattered to be awarded the first Property Council of Australia (PCA) NSW Rising Star Award. I am incredibly lucky to represent the engineers, sustainability advocates and parents who prioritise making the property industry do better.

I would like to thank the PCA, Investa and my family for being part of such a killer support crew, constantly encouraging and challenging me. I would also like to acknowledge the industry contributions of the other super star nominees who make the property sector’s future an exciting one.

PEOPLE FIRST: Western Sydney University – Bill Parasiris

Western Sydney University is honoured to have received the inaugural People First Award from the Property Council, in recognition of our Western Growth Program. This perfectly aligns with the recent announcement, that for the second year in a row, we have been ranked 1st in the world in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals based on our social, economic and environmental impact. The University is committed to delivering outstanding programs and initiatives that benefit our people, as well as gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.

With numerous projects still in the pipeline, we are committed furthering stakeholder, community and commercial partnerships to delivering projects that will not only benefit our staff and students, but also the surrounding communities in which we operate.

LEGACY LEADERSHIP: Alison Mirams – Roberts Co

Since launching Roberts Co in 2017, we have always had a vision to ‘build a better way’ and be champions of change to improve the lives of our workers. I am aware that not all of our changes are popular, but we can’t keep doing what we’ve always done. We need to improve the industry for the generations that will follow in our footsteps.

It was an honour to be recognised by the Property Council and receive the People in Property Legacy Leadership Award, and also very rewarding. I hope that this recognition can continue to instigate positive change across this amazing industry that we are all lucky to be a part of. Thank you!

TEAM OF THE YEAR: The ADP Team – ADP Consulting

“To be recognised by our industry and our peers as the Property Council NSW 2023 ‘Team of the Year’ is incredibly special. It is a true testament to the talent and commitment of our team, and the strength of our relationships with our clients who entrust us with their projects.

This accolade is a celebration of all we have achieved to-date in NSW – and nationally as we really are one team – and serves as a reminder to remain bold and forward-looking as we look to deliver on some big plans by the end of the year.” – James Cannam, Director & NSW Regional Director, ADP Consulting.

INDUSTRY IMPACT: Chris O’Dell – GYDE Consulting

I was incredibly thrilled to be recognised by the PCA, especially with the calibre of the other finalists. Having the PCA acknowledge my contribution to the industry is personally flattering but also reaffirms the importance of evidence based decision making when facing our current housing challenges.
