Home Property Australia Keeping our members safe

Keeping our members safe

It’s an exciting time as Australia reopens and reconnects.

At the Property Council, this means a welcome return of face-to-face activities and engagement in many locations and (hopefully) an end to the threat of lockdowns everywhere.

Like our members, the Property Council has been shaping our own pathway to ‘living with COVID-19’ as the country reopens and reconnects.

While vaccines have been a game-changer, the pandemic is certainly not over. The health and safety of our people and our members must remain our most important priority.

We have been considering how to best to perform our role of connecting the industry in this new world, as well as our responsibilities as an employer with staff in every state and territory. After much consideration, the Property Council board has agreed to a series of interim arrangements.

Firstly, all Property Council in-person events, courses and conferences will become fully vaccinated forums only. This means only fully-vaccinated people will be able to attend these activities.

This arrangement has already started in NSW, Victoria and the ACT, will commence in South Australia in a fortnight, Tasmania and Queensland in December, NT in January and WA in late January or February – dates which coincide with the reopening of each jurisdiction’s interstate borders. At this stage these arrangements will be in place until the end of March 2022.

The member experience will be as seamless as possible. Members and their guests will merely have to show evidence of their vaccination status before entering the event, as well as checking-in via the relevant government check-in app.

Secondly, our offices around the country will also become fully vaccinated work sites.

We have had an overwhelmingly positive response to these arrangements from members to date, who appreciate our focus on the health and safety of our members and staff.

We will review these arrangements in the new year to ensure they are still appropriate in the broader public health context.

Thank you in advance for your understanding. I look forward to seeing you at a Property Council event soon.
