IRT innovates for Illawarra women

  • April 19, 2021

Jasmine Grove, IRT’s new retirement village in the Illawarra, presents an innovative model of affordable retirement living for single women looking for community and connection.

  Why we love this project:

  • Set within the new Henry Brooks Estate at IRT Kanahooka retirement village in the Illawarra, Jasmine Grove will feature eight villas for women over 55
  • The eight private one-bedroom self-contained villas are set around a community building featuring a large share kitchen, and a family-sized dining and lounge area
  • Outdoor areas will include a BBQ, additional storage and shared vegetable garden and green space.

IRT announced the concept for Jasmine Grove in September 2020, and since then has received more than 100 expressions of interest from women across the Illawarra region.

“We’ve been encouraged by the level of interest expressed by prospective Jasmine Grove residents,” says IRT CEO, Patrick Reid.

“We understand that senior women on their own sometimes have difficulty accessing appropriate retirement living options. Our aim with Jasmine Grove is to offer a new type of retirement living for women that is not only more affordable, but sustainable and connected.”

IRT Group is one of Australia’s largest community-owned, not-for-profit providers of retirement living, residential aged care and home care.

Partially funded by the Australian Government through the Building Better Regions Fund, Jasmine Grove has been designed to encourage participation, sharing and a sense of community while offering residents their own private and secure homes.

The villas are pet-friendly and include a full kitchen, dining area, lounge room, laundry, accessible bathroom, outdoor storage and parking space.

Residents can take full advantage of the amenities of the retirement village Henry Brooks Estate which surrounds Jasmine Grove, including the clubhouse, pizza oven, giant outdoor chessboard and extensive landscaped walkways.

Residents will also receive 50 hours of integrated IRT Home Care services within the first 12 months of residency.

IRT is still accepting expressions of interest from women over 55 to live at Jasmine Grove. Construction is expected to be complete by July.
