Country Garden Australia’s first project reaches completion

  • December 18, 2018

Buyers are beginning to move into the first of three towers at the $580 million Ryde Garden residential high-rise project in Sydney, as Country Garden makes its mark on Sydney.

The project, design by Bates Smart, includes 830 apartments across three towers, which range in height from 12 to 28 storeys, set around a 4,000 sqm park.

Ryde Garden’s one, two- and three-bedroom apartments will eventually be home to around 2,500 residents.

The 17,580 sqm site is positioned within the North Ryde station urban activation zone, close to Macquarie University and the Macquarie Centre.

Amenities include a private 30-metre lap pool, gymnasium, childcare facility, street level retail and concierge, as well as rooftop gardens designed by Aspect Studios.

Country Garden Australia was launched in Sydney in 2013 and opened its Melbourne office in 2017. Ryde Garden was launched in the company’s first year of operation.

Founded in China in 1992, Country Garden has delivered large-scale projects in more than 300 cities. A further 700 projects are currently under construction.

According to Dr Guotao Hu, Country Garden Australia’s chief executive officer, the completion of Ryde Garden is an “important milestone” for the company.

“We are extremely proud of this project, especially given it’s our first in Australia. It’s proof of our capabilities in delivering masterplanned communities that locals are proud to call home.

“It’s also testament to our versatility and capacity to deliver across various asset classes, as we are better known for large-scale house and land communities featuring major infrastructure and amenity, such as our ‘Windermere’ project outside Melbourne, which has just commenced site works.”

Construction of Ryde Garden commenced in May 2016 with national contracting group, Watpac, delivering the expansive residential development.

Martin Monro, Watpac managing director says the construction process required “disciplined project management capabilities, given at its peak 550 workers were working on site each day, contributing to a monthly turnover of around $21 million”.

Country Garden is ranked in the Forbes Global 500 list with an estimated value of $30 billion and currently employs more than 100,000 people.
