City-changing plans for the heart Perth’s retail precinct have been unveiled by Fiveight.

Carillon City will become home to student accommodation, a “lifestyle” hotel and a shopping plaza under plans lodged in a development application with the City of Perth.

If approved, a 17-storey hotel and 30-story student accommodation tower would form centerpiece of the redevelopment, with an open-air central plaza sitting between the two set to contain four levels of retail and hospitality options.

In its development application, Fiveight said its vision for Carillon City “aims to create a central gathering destination for the city and foster a larger urban sense of community”.

“As the forms of the architecture expand and contract at different points through the retail podium, open spaces such as the amphitheatre and the walkway connecting to Murray Street become zones for social engagement and activity,” Fiveight said in its development application.

The reimagined Carillon City would total 70,000 square metres of floor space across the 5,700 square metre plot.

“Fiveight has lodged a development application to the City of Perth to revitalise the Carillon City site in the heart of Perth CBD,” Fiveight chief executive Paige Walker said.

“The proposed development has been strategically designed to align with the City of Perth’s ambitious strategic community plan 2022-2032.” “Our team are looking forward to progressing the development application in collaboration with the City of Perth, State Government, cultural advisors, partners and investors.”
