Australia’s property industry will unite to light up purple over 70 prominent buildings across the country this weekend to raise awareness of the devastating impact of domestic and family violence.

The Property Champions of Change – made up of 25 property industry leaders – will light up offices and shopping centres across capital cities and regional areas in purple, the colour that represents those who have lost their lives because of domestic and family violence, to kick off a 16 Days of Activism campaign.

The Property Council and Champions of Change will also be hosting a “tools down” virtual event to build understanding of the impact of domestic and family violence in the workplace and take practical action to prevent and address domestic and family violence in our workplaces and in the community. All Property Council members are welcome to attend.

Guest speakers Hayley Foster (Full Stop Australia Chief Executive Officer) and Kristy McKellar OAM (victim survivor advocate and campaigner against family violence) will discuss why gender-based violence, including domestic and family violence is a workplace issue and practical actions that workplaces can take to address and prevent gender-based violence in the workplace

The livestream event will also feature Property Champions of Change domestic and family violence working group leads Tarun Gupta (Stockland) and Anthony Boyd (Frasers Property Australia) on actions they have taken to prevent and respond to domestic and family violence in their workplaces and the unique impact the property industry can have in raising awareness about domestic and family violence in the communities in which we work.

The initiative has been supported by all Property Champions of Change and more than 70 locations are being lit up by Brookfield, CBRE, Cbus Property, Colliers, Frasers Property Australia, Investa, ISPT, JLL, Knight Frank Australia, Lendlease, Mirvac, QIC, Scentre Group, Stockland, The GPT Group and Vicinity Centres.

The livestream event will take place Wednesday 30 November 12-1pm AEDT and is free for members with the option to contribute $25 to the Full Stop Foundation when registering.
