Good to be in Canberra this morning advocating on housing and industrial relations among other matters.
Our message is clear: put decades of neglect and entrenched political views in the rear-view mirror and pass legislation to build more homes to buy, to rent and for social housing.
The housing challenge will be on everyone’s mind in two weeks at our Property Congress in Townsville where Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and brand-new Housing Minister Clare O’Neil will address us on topics dominating the imminent Federal election. Join me here.
ACT election in focus
The Property Council’s election platform has played a pivotal role in shaping major party policy ahead of the ACT election on 19 October.
In particular, the platform’s focus on increased housing supply, planning certainty, and land release has resonated and given us a unique opportunity to provide thought leadership.
We will host the only Leaders’ Debate of the election, ensuring that the strong voice of the property sector is given a good hearing.
Hat tip to ACT President Phil O’Brien, our government relations gun and interim ACT ED Gino Luglietti and brand-new ACT ED Ashlee Berry for making this possible.
Next week – will future ACCC red tape drag down housing affordability?
