As I discussed with Tim Gilbert on Sky, Federal Parliament’s spotlight has been on housing this week.
The Feds funding for nearly 14,000 social and affordable homes is a much-needed boost we’ve been calling for. If government won’t do social and affordable housing we all pay.
As we go to print, there is a stalemate on build-to-rent housing between the government and the Greens. This should have been sorted last year but the new Minister is trying to get a deal.
The Senate amendments put forward by us, the Community Housing Industry Association and National Shelter, equal 105,000 rental homes over 10 years with an immediate injection of 1,200 affordable homes.
Industrial relations will also figure today. We support a tough cop on the beat beyond the administrator but note it will need both major parties to agree to a model that will stay regardless of who is in power.

RLB’s Innovation and Excellence Awards
Great projects, great night. An honour to attend the RLB Innovation & Excellence Awards in Sydney last week. An extraordinary field of finalists. Read their stories below.
Huge thanks again to RLB for celebrating the best of the best with us over 42 years. As Judge Harrington put it – half the people in the room are younger than that special partnership.
Next week – every nation on earth has housing troubles.Â
