I am hoping you can help.
In the lead up to our (sold out) Property Congress next week, I will be taking part in a two-day walk to help raise money for homeless youth through the Property Industry Foundation.
To be honest, I am getting completely smashed in the fundraising stakes by the likes of Bob Johnston, Carmel Hourigan and Michael O’Brien – so pride is also on the line!
As you know, the Foundation does an outstanding job bringing the industry together to make a tangible difference to youth homelessness. It’s something the Property Council gets behind in a strong way and I also actively support it.
There are over 44,000 young people in Australia that don’t have a safe and secure place to sleep. You may not see them – they are in cars, under bridges and couch surfing – but as young people with nowhere safe to sleep, they are on a path to ongoing homelessness and vulnerability for the rest of their lives. We need to take a stand against this and change their lives for the better.
That’s why on 22 and 23 October, I will be taking part in a two-day walk in the Scenic Rim (Queensland) along with 16 other industry leaders. I am challenging myself to complete the walk which will be over grade 4, single track, volcanic plateaus and through dense rainforests.
I have pledged to raise a minimum of $10,000 which will go towards a team target of $200,000 and assist us in building Haven House South Dowling, a 19-bedroom home for homeless youth in Australia (find out more here).
Please support me if you can. The link to my page is here. Many thanks in advance and see you at Congress.
