Heading to Canberra this week for our last round of parliamentary engagement for the year. Housing and planning our cities better are top priority.
If the Federal election is called for March 2025, and the clue will be a Mid Year Economic Forecast and Fiscal Outlook bigger than Santa’s sack, this could easily end up being the last sitting fortnight for this term of Federal parliament.
Build-to-rent housing legislation remains a coin toss till the final whistle. More next week.
Thanks to QShelter
A pleasure to catch up with our brilliant Queensland Team last Thursday.
Equal joy to speak with the terrific folks at QShelter about the many common challenges and opportunities in Australia’s housing markets and why there is room for patient optimism.
Thanks in particular to Fiona Caniglia and Jackson Hills for having me, to key sponsor Riye at Bluebird and our brilliant QLD ED Jess who made it all possible.
Thanks too to the new Minister for Housing and Public Works and Minister for Youth, Sam O’Connor, who devoted the time in his first fortnight to deliver a thoughtful and personal address on his priorities for a vital portfolio.
