CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, MARCH, 23, 2024: House of Representatives at Australia's Parliament House
This week has seen a reshuffling of Cabinet positions and party leaders

In Darwin this morning guest of our formidable NT Executive Director Ruth Palmer. With the entire NT Cabinet for good measure. Outstanding.

This follows a productive day in Queensland speaking with our top shelf team and Queensland Treasurer Janetzki about the new Government’s productivity agenda. He is also Energy Minister. Not for the faint-hearted.

Hat tip Queensland President Bradley Norris for a terrific tour of the premium 360 Queen St.

Power in the 48th parliament takes shape

We have congratulated Claire O’Neil on retaining the housing and homelessness portfolios and picked up cities and the national construction code.

Powerful to have this all in one place.

Meanwhile, Murray Watt has been appointed as Environment Minister at a time when Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation assessments for new housing projects have ground to a halt during the necessary review of the Act.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers, Finance Minister Katy Gallagher and Assistant Treasurer Daniel Mulino are the treasury trifecta and our aspiration is they will lay out the welcome mat for foreign capital.

Yesterday saw Sussan Ley emerge as the new leader of the Liberal Party with Ted O’Brien as Deputy Leader. Also congratulations to Nationals Leader David Littleproud and Deputy Leader Kevin Hogan on their appointments.

Much work to be done. Think improving the productivity of the Foreign Investment Review Board, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, taxing unrealised gains, industrial relations on construction sites and environmental approvals.

10 years of 500 Women in Property

Ten years ago, we launched our 500 Women in Property program.

Since then, the program has paired over 5,000 women with a committed sponsor.

The goal remains the same. To accelerate more women into leadership through development and networking opportunities.

We invite our members to sponsor and champion a woman in the organisation for this year’s cohort. Nominations are now open.

Innovation and Excellence finalists

We have announced the finalists 2025 Property Council of Australia/Rider Levett Bucknall National Innovation & Excellence Awards.

The award program has shone a light on outstanding projects and professionals for over 40 years.

This year’s finalists are another impressive group.

Congratulations to all finalists and good luck at the Awards Gala Dinner in September.
