Cbus Property transforms city living

  • June 15, 2021

Luxury residences at Cbus Property’s $1 billion mixed-use development at 111 Castlereagh Street will honour the site’s heritage and celebrate a new age of living, working and retail in the heart of Sydney.

  Why we love this project:

  • High above the city streets, the residences designed by fjmtstudio sit atop a classic Art Deco building constructed in 1938 as the David Jones menswear and food hall
  • Above the heritage podium, a 22-storey tower will offer 101 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom luxury residences and penthouses that can be customised to suit each resident
  • The original Hawkesbury sandstone façade of the department store is being retained, with a luxury retail precinct across six floors and 11,500 sqm of premium serviced office space.

Adrian Pozzo, Cbus Property’s chief executive officer, says the landmark project celebrates the building’s legacy and will transform the CBD lifestyle for future generations.

“The tower’s curvilinear architecture means the boutique apartments and penthouses appear to bear no load, floating above the heritage building below, while offering residents a premium address with the city’s most coveted views,” Pozzo says.

The 101 high-end residences offer striking views of Hyde Park and Sydney Harbour. The private rooftop oasis features a swimming pool, gym with outdoor yoga facilities, podium gardens and extensive wrap-around terraces.

Other first-class amenity includes an open-air lounge and dining room with AV capability, catering kitchen, secure climate-controlled wine cellar, automated valet and electric vehicle charging.

Colliers is acting as the selling agent and Peter Chittenden, managing director for the agency’s residential division, expects the majority of buyers will be local owner-occupiers.

“We’ve already seen very strong interest from buyers looking for boutique apartment living within the heart of Sydney’s CBD.”

Chittenden says Sydneysiders have “fond memories” of David Jones and buyers of 111 Castlereagh “will connect with the site’s heritage and prime Sydney city location”.

In line with Cbus Property’s commitment to net-zero emissions across its portfolio by 2030, the commercial precinct at 121 Castlereagh is targeting a 5 Star Green Star rating, 5.5 star NABERS Energy rating and a WELL Gold rating.

Construction of the project, which will create approximately 2,000 jobs throughout its duration, commenced in November 2020. Completion of the residential tower is slated for the third quarter of 2023.
