Set across four separate sites, Brookfield Place Sydney is transforming Sydney’s Wynyard Station, bringing together old and new buildings into a world-class precinct.
Why we love this project:
|
Brookfield Properties topped out the $2 billion project in late August, renaming the former Wynyard Place project Brookfield Place Sydney.
The office and retail development connecting Wynyard Station to George Street features a new 27-storey office tower at 10 Carrington Street, as well as the redevelopment of historic Shell House and 285 George Street.
The revamped precinct will provide around 75,000 sqm of space – 68,000 sqm commercial office space and the remainder retail.
Brookfield Place is Brookfield’s premium brand for large commercial property precincts with outstanding transport connections, state-of-the-art building systems, premium workspaces, high level retail amenity, high sustainability credentials and more.
Only five other Brookfield Places exist in the world: New York, Toronto, Calgary, Dubai and Perth.
“A Brookfield Place is a new kind of urban centre that sets benchmarks in its location for commercial property assets,” says Sophie Fallman, Brookfield Asset Management’s managing partner and head of Australian real estate.
“It uses world-class planning and design to transform expansive, under-utilised areas within the most important cities of the 21st century. It puts surrounding precincts on the map by creating a uniquely welcoming environment that re-centres the surrounding neighbourhood.”
Carl Schibrowski, Brookfield Properties’ executive vice president and co-head, leads the team responsible for the development. He says 81 per cent of office space has been pre-leased to national and global tenants, including NAB and Alliance.
Hub Australia will occupy 4,000 sqm of space over two levels, with 400 sqm of that tenancy set aside as a free premium lounge for tenants and Hub Australia customers.
“We wanted to bring a great flexible workspace offer to Brookfield Place Sydney to meet the growing demand from businesses for flexibility,” Schibrowski says.
Designed in collaboration by Make Architects and Architectus, Brookfield Place Sydney will be complete in 2021.
