Five incredible days, 290 students, one highly engaging program

DAY 1: Property and Education, Thursday 23 May 2019

Western Sydney University

The students heard from a diverse range of women in property across many sectors, in a series of panel discussions, with audience Q&A.  An keynote from Professor Barney Glover, Vice-Chancellor, Western Sydney University sparked their interest in tertiary education opportunities, and a surprise guest visit by The Hon. Rob Stokes MP, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, left them inspired.

An afternoon workshop with industry mentors on their selected project (Residential, Placemaking or Retail) gave them the tools and advice they needed to progress their work back at school.

The student left buzzing with excitement about their next few days of the program.

Our sincere thanks to Western Sydney University for their ongoing support.

DAY 2: Industry Site Tours, Monday 27 May 2019

City Recital Hall, Barangaroo, Westfield Sydney and Central Park

To start their day, the students were inspired by the City of Sydney Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, as she spoke about the vision for Sydney and the important role diversity plays in planning a global city.

Following this, they broke into three groups and experienced an up-close and personal view of the property industry day-to-day operations, by visiting one of three site tour locations.

  • Barangaroo, generously hosted by Lendlease
  • Westfield Sydney, generously hosted by Scentre Group
  • Central Park at Ultimo, generously hosted by Frasers Property

Our sincere thanks to our industry site tour and venue partners.

DAY 3: School Assembly Presentations, June 2019

Participating Schools

Each project group presented their final project to an assembly of their peers, and a panel of judges comprised of the project mentors, selected a team to move to the finals.

DAY 4: Project Finals, Thursday 20 June 2019

MinterEllison

The selected teams from each school presented their project to an esteemed panel of industry judges and their peers from the other schools. Nerves and excitement ran high, but their enthusiasm, creative thinking and practical solutions won the judges and audience over.

The winning teams for each category were:

  1. Strathfield Girls High School for their ‘Placemaking’ project
  2. Cheltenham Girls High School for their ‘Residential’ project
  3. Auburn Girls High School for their ‘Retail’ project

Our sincere thanks to MinterEllison for their continued support of the program.

DAY 5: Industry Engagement

For the final component of the program each of the schools will attend a Property Council NSW monthly business lunch, giving them an insight into the breadth of the property industry.
