Councils to trial AI for planning approvals
The NSW Government have launched a grants program for councils to trial artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to help process development applications more efficiently.
This comes after the NSW Government committed a $5.6 million investment for the use of AI in NSW’s planning system in last year’s budget.
At the Property Council’s Residential Outlook, Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully, invited industry to submit innovative existing and mature AI technology solutions to DPHI to help reduce manual workloads for councils and to streamline the pre-lodgment phase.
Three technologies have now been identified and will be available to councils for trial through the AI Solutions Panel and Early Adopter Grant Program. They are:
- Adaptovate Pty Ltd ‘Development Assessment Intelligence System (DAISY)’
- Archistar Platform
- Propcode CDC
All councils can apply for grants through the Early Adopter Grant Program. Grant applications are open for three weeks and close on 22 May 2024. Successful grant recipients will be notified by June.
