Wynyard Walk set to open mid-September
Wynyard Walk is to open to the public in mid-September 2016. It will link Wynyard Station to Barangaroo, allowing 20,000 pedestrian movements every hour. The opening will coincide with the opening of the third commercial tower at Barangaroo South.
Construction on Wynyard Walk is progressing well with the internal fit out underway, escalators installed, Sussex Street Bridge complete and the steel frame of the canopy in place above the Napoleon Plaza.
When complete, Barangaroo is expected to accommodate up to 23,000 workers and attract up to 33,000 visitors per day.
Wynyard Walk will include:
• A 9-metre wide underground fully accessible pedestrian tunnel approximately 180 long.
• A 6-minute walk between Barangaroo and Wynyard Station.
• Napoleon Plaza – an upgraded pedestrian precinct
• Sussex Street pedestrian bridge with lifts, escalators and stairs connecting to Barangaroo.
The Property Council welcomes the Barangaroo developments and Wynyard Walk as vital elements to raising Sydney’s profile as a global city.
In coming months the $30 million next stage of the Wynyard Station upgrade will begin improving platforms, entrances, escalators, lifts and lobby.
