Work Place Health and Safety and Other Legislation Amendment Bill
The Government has introduced the Work Health and Safety and Other Legislation Amendment Bill into Parliament. The amendments proposed in the Bill are a result of a Government review of the work health and safety laws following the fatalities at Dreamworld and Eagle Farm.
The amendments include the establishment of an independent statutory office for work health and safety prosecutions, introduces an offence of industrial manslaughter, and amends the right of entry provisions. The Bill has been referred to the Finance and Administration Committee for review, with submissions due by 14 September.
