Work on Green Square Town Centre beginsConstruction at Green Square Town Centre in Sydney’s south has officially begun, with a ground-breaking ceremony held for Ebsworth, the centre’s first residential building. UrbanGrowth NSW chief executive David Pitchford and Mirvac chief executive officer and managing director Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz were there to mark the start of construction of the 174-apartment building. UrbanGrowth NSW, the state government’s urban transformation delivery organisation, is the landowner and Mirvac is the developer.Pitchford said the occasion was a significant one, not just for Green Square Town Centre but also for UrbanGrowth NSW. “Today’s ground breaking follows detailed planning, land consolidation and consultation by UrbanGrowth NSW aimed at optimising the value of government land for the public good,” he said.”Ebsworth represents the first stage of apartments to be delivered by Mirvac and UrbanGrowth NSW in the heart of the new Green Square Town Centre,” Lloyd-Hurwitz said.”Ebsworth’s popularity with buyers reflects the strength of the Green Square offering as well as the superior design of the apartments and price points. Twenty per cent of Ebsworth’s mix of layouts and sizes are adaptable and cater to occupant needs through different life stages.”The 10-storey building will comprise one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, with ground floor retail space. Nearby amenities include Green Square train station, an aquatic centre, a library and landscaped parks. The entire allotment of apartments sold out in one weekend in November 2014. Ebsworth is due for completion in the second half of 2016.
