Women in Property

The Hunter held its first annual Women In Property lunch last Friday at Newcastle City Hall, with more than 180 people attending.

The crowd turned out to hear from some very inspiring female leaders in the industry about their own journey and experiences.

Guest speaker and CEO of Roberts Pizzarotti, Alison Mirams, shared her own career journey as well as her thoughts on how best to navigate your way to leadership, in a predominantly male industry. Alison spoke about the important role she believed mentors and sponsors played in providing valuable support and advice.

Alison was also joined by Senior Project Director for Health Infrastructure, Gillian Geraghty and Director of EJE Architecture, Kathy Gresham in a panel discussion moderated by EJE Architecture Director Glen Spicer.

Kathy and Gillian shared their own career journeys and answered questions around their perspectives on diversity in the industry and how to better engage young females, create awareness about the many varied roles you can pursue in property related fields and how to set yourself up for success.

The frank and insightful discussion was well received by the audience with a great deal of positive feedback after the event and figures showed a 78% female and 22% male attendance rate which was great to see.

The event was indicative of the Property Council’s commitment to diversity and Women in Property.
