Wollongong people movement study will lead city reviewWollongong City Council is completing a study of its people movement called Public Spaces Public Life, with the results to determine changes in its planning rules including its Development Control Plan. The study was guided by Gehl Architects who have lead this work in cities across the world, measuring how cities function from the perspective of the people who use them. Wollongong began collecting the data in March of this year, with more than 65 sets of information now available for the community and council decision makers to review. Early in 2015, Council will be developing evidence-based recommendations in consultation with the community and key stakeholders, including the Property Council, who they have already briefed. The Public Spaces Public Life study was a key ambition of the Shaping Wollongong project.
