Winning women in constructionHilti Australia and Richard Crookes have taken out top honours at the National Association of Women in Construction’s (NAWIC) annual awards for excellence in NSW last week.According to NAWIC chapter president Sarah Hogan, the 20th anniversary of the awards attracted a record number of entries across 11 categories.Hogan says the awards “celebrate both rising female stars and recognised leaders from across our industry, as well as the companies supporting and guiding female talent.”The top company gong, the Crystal Vision Award, went to tool manufacturer Hilti Australia for diversity policies that have driven an increase in female applications for employment.Hogan says 30 per cent of Hilti’s executive management team is female, and the company is “showing the industry how diversity can be delivered”.Laura Durkan (pictured), head of Human Resources at Richard Crookes, was presented with the Business Woman of the Year Award for making a “positive impact” as the company “evolves from a small family business to a competitive, established name,” Hogan says.Stockland’s national sustainability manager, Davina Rooney, took home the award for sustainability, and Lendlease’s Joanne Lees was recognised for her work on her company’s new workplace at Barangaroo South.All category and merit winners can be found on the NAWIC website.
