What is Senior Sport and Why is it Important?

This webinar will look at the benefits of a senior’s exercise intervention using solutions that are specifically designed for seniors. We’ll highlight the types of outdoor equipment available and why they are senior specific as well as explore the research, results and programs that are being run nation-wide to encourage and support our ageing population in their endeavour to maintain their fitness.

Associate Professor Pazit Levinger – B.Ed, PhD, AEP

Senior Research Fellow, Clinical Gerontology Division @National Ageing Research Institute Ltd (NARI)

A/P Levinger (B.Ed, PhD, AEP) is a senior research fellow at the National Ageing Research Institute, an adjunct Associate Professor at the Institute for Health and Sport (IHES), Victoria University and the School of Allied Health, La Trobe University. A/P Levinger is also an accredited exercise physiologist (AEP) with experience in exercise prescriptions for older people and those with musculoskeletal conditions. A/P Levinger has over 12 years’ experience, skills and expertise in the area of quantitative gait analysis, active ageing and falls prevention and clinical biomechanics of different population groups, mainly people with osteoarthritis, people who have had knee replacement surgery and frail older people at risk of falling. A/P Levinger’s current research focuses on active ageing and age friendly communities with health and wellbeing. A/P Levinger is a proactive researcher.


Michelle Herbut

Senior Business Development Manager, NSW & ACT @Lark Industries 

Graduating with a Bachelor in Industrial Design from the University of South Australia, Michelle began her career in the industry of street furniture. She’s grateful that after over 13 years in the industry it has allowed her to work closely with manufacturers and suppliers which has broadened her knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials. This has been the perfect platform to enter the world of playground equipment sales and design through one of Australia’s leading playground suppliers, Lark Industries. Michelle is responsible for assisting clients with tailoring or customising designs for their next project, the sales and delivery of play and outdoor sports equipment, and the implementation of a seniors Active Ageing Initiative.
