WeWork launches first Brisbane location

Global space, community, and services company, WeWork, has opened its new Brisbane location at 310 Edward St in the heart of the city’s CBD. Brisbane is the third city in Australia for WeWork, following a number of locations across Sydney and Melbourne. In February of this year, WeWork announced it will also open in Perth in September 2019.

WeWork has expanded rapidly in Australia since the company opened its first location in October 2016. As of this month, WeWork has grown to over 9,000 members in twelve open locations across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, with a further 5 locations announced.

Comprising two and a half large floor plates at 310 Edward St across from Central Station, the newly opened collaborative workspace connects over 1,400 of Brisbane’s brightest entrepreneurs and business leaders to WeWork’s global network within a contemporary and flexible workspace environment.

Lachlan Buchanan, Head of Real Estate, WeWork Australia said that while WeWork was a global company, it focused on local markets.

“We are thrilled to open our first location in Brisbane and tap into the demand for our product in the city. At 310 Edward Street, we’re providing entrepreneurs and businesses the opportunity to scale, grow and collaborate with like-minded individuals. Brisbane is a growth market and we can’t wait to deliver more curated spaces to the city and grow our community here.”

“Work is changing and it’s increasingly apparent that larger companies are choosing a shared workspace to be part of a dynamic, more creative and entrepreneurial environment. Today’s workforce is increasingly mobile and more flexible. For larger enterprises, the ability to open an office anywhere they like, relatively affordably, and efficiently is very attractive – not just because more companies are expected to move employees to flexible spaces, but because companies’ needs are less static that they used to be.”

Featuring a rooftop deck with BBQ facilities, outdoor lounge and expansive city views, the location supports Brisbane City Council’s mission to be a centre for growth, digital innovation and technology.

Brisbane Lord Mayor Graham Quirk welcomed the addition of a new, collaborative workspace to Brisbane.

“Brisbane is Australia’s New World City and we are committed to supporting innovative organisations of all scales to ensure they remain in our city rather than going off shore,” Cr Quirk said.

“Brisbane is a leading innovation centre in the Asia Pacific and this new CBD hub will help provide start-ups and larger enterprises with maximum exposure while boosting our city’s economy and creating more jobs.”

WeWork at 310 Edward St will be formally opened by Lord Mayor Graham Quirk at a breakfast on Wednesday 6th March
