Western Sydney Investment Attraction Fund

The NSW Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres announced on 19 October, a new $5 million Western Sydney Investment Attraction Fund to support small to medium sized medium enterprises (SMES) in Western Sydney to attract new knowledge-based jobs and investment to the region.

The new initiative supports the NSW Government’s longer-term plans for the region and is the next stage as part of the Western Sydney City Deal. It will offer Western Sydney based businesses Jobs for NSW products that support innovative, fast-growing businesses including loans and loans guarantees.

In order to be eligible for the products, the business must be reaching a market beyond NSW and creating a minimum of 10 additional FTE within two years in the Western Sydney Region. This is addition to other criteria such as being a scaling business and being able to demonstrate loan serviceability.

Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia with major economic potential over the next 10 to 20 years, attracting economic activity, new industries, commercial development and jobs. At the centre of this activity is the development of the Western Sydney Airport and Aerotropolis and the new $740 million health, research and education precinct at Liverpool Hospital.

Community Participation Plan

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment (DP&E) has released a draft Community Participation Plan which describes its approach to community engagement and sets out how and when the community can participate in the Department’s planning functions.

The plan underpins DP&E’s commitment to preserving the natural environment and creating great places to live, work and play for all communities across New South Wales, and believes it is community participation and engagement that builds confidence in the planning system.

The plan will be on exhibition until Thursday 6 December 2018 and we welcome your feedback. Please send any comments to [email protected]

The plan can be accessed here.
