Western Sydney a hotspot for first home buyers
Western Sydney has proved to be a hotspot for first home buyers, accounting for 16 of the top 20 suburbs benefitting from the First Home Owner Grant between 1 July 2013 and 30 June 2014.
Topping the list was Spring Farm in Sydney’s South West, where home buyers received more than $7 million in grants and concessions in total in the last 12 months. This was closely followed by West Hoxton ($6.78 million), Werrington ($6.46 million), St Marys ($6.42 million), Liverpool ($6.20 million) and Parramatta ($5.39 million).
Across NSW the total benefits received by First Home Owner Grant recipients totalled more than $224.5 million in the last financial year.
The threshold for the First Home Owners Grant has been increased by $100,000, meaning homes valued up to $7,000 will be eligible for the grant.
Infrastructure projects such as WestConnex will help to support the continued growth of the west.
