Welcome to our New Member

Property Council of Australia welcomes new members to the NT division, Rimfire Energy. Rimfire Energy is solely focussed on the NT and a licenced electricity retailer in the NT since 2014.

Rimfire Energy services the electricity needs of business and government customers in the grid connected markets of the NT – Darwin, Katherine, Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. Rimfire Energy’s Managing Director, Michael Allen, says the company works with customers to review and improve their overall electricity supply arrangements.

He says, ‘Rimfire Energy is only licensed in the Territory, so successfully providing competitive pricing and service here in the Territory is paramount to our successes. Already, Rimfire Energy has secured substantial savings for some big business customers in the NT including the Darwin Convention Centre and Paspalis Centrepoint.

Michael is excited about what is in store for the Territory. “We saw a need in the market for a competitive energy opportunity and with the future growth predicted in the NT it is an exciting time to be here.”

Michael brings more than 8 years’ experience in the energy and electricity retail space, along with 20 years project and financial experience. The Rimfire team has more than 40 years of relevant electricity industry experience.

Michael was previously the Group CFO and then the Executive General Manager of Finance at ERM Power during its period of rapid growth, when it was both the fastest growing electricity sales business and the number one developer of new generation capacity in Australia.  During this time, Michael established the internal finance function at ERM Power, including leading the financing for the generation development and construction projects and to facilitate corporate expansion.  This included sourcing funding for the newly established electricity sales subsidiary, allowing it to grow into one of Australia’s leading commercial and industrial electricity retailers.  In this capacity at ERM Power, Michael was directly responsible for raising more than $1 billion in senior and mezzanine project, corporate and equity finance.

“People up here are great to do business with and I am keen to chat to more businesses to assist them with their energy needs. “
