WA Village Manager takes out top prize at National Retirement Living Awards
Dedication, knowledge and managerial quality are all hallmarks of the 2020 National Programmed Award for Village Manager of the Year, David Mooney.
Since taking on the role of Village Manager, Mr Mooney has demonstrated dedication to short and long-term goals at Timberside Villas, a Lendlease village located in Woodvale, adopting an energetic and positive approach that influences not only the residents of the community but the staff too.
Allan Watson, the Chairman of Timberside Villas Village Council, said that David is an extremely deserving candidate.
“My first impression of him was of an enthusiastic young man looking for a new challenge in life. After spending a week at another Lendlease Village, learning about his new job, David started as our manager in the second week of September 2019.
“By mid-March when the Coronavirus pandemic hit hard, David had already gained enormous respect from everyone in our village with his ability to manage in such a way that the spirit among our residents was the best I had seen in my six years at Timberside.
“Life during the next three months was difficult for everybody; we were so lucky to have a manager who had the ability to adapt to the circumstances and minimise the effect on our lifestyle. His personal help to some of our older and more handicapped residents during this time was beyond his duties as manager, and will not be forgotten” said Mr Watson.
The Property Council National Retirement Living Awards celebrate high achievement across all parts of the retirement living sector. The awards contain eight categories recognising people and company doing great work to ensure senior Australian have an enjoyable retirement.
Property Council WA Executive Director, Sandra Brewer, has congratulated Mr Mooney on his win.
“It speaks volumes about David and the local retirement living sector that this major national award is coming home to WA this year,” Ms Brewer said.
“These awards are an opportunity to recognise the value and high-quality lifestyles that retirement villages offer.
“Retirement living is an increasingly important and high demand component of the seniors’ housing mix. You can understand why when you see the suite of winning projects announced today and people like David delivering outstanding customer experiences for residents.” Ms Brewer added.
Mr Mooney was also recently the winner of the Property Council of Australia, Programmed WA Village Manager of the Year Award, presented at a Property Council Retirement Living breakfast, earlier this month.
