WA’s first ever state design review panel appointed

The Property Council is proud to announce that many of our members are included in the experts whose role will be to provide independent advice on the design quality of major development proposals.

Last week the State Government announced that, along with the gazettal of Stage One – Design WA policy, the appointment of the State’s first State Design Review Panel.

The design review panel comprises of 37 experts from the core disciplines of planning, architecture, urban design and landscape architecture, and 13 specialists with expertise in heritage, sustainability, engineering and public health.

New apartment developments will now need to adhere to Design WA codes to ensure development is underpinned by good design, from the concept stage through to delivery.

The creation of the panel is vital to the implementation of Design WA policies an guidelines – placing good design at the heart of all development.
