WA Property Awards Celebrate Perth’s Property Stars

Lakeside Joondalup has won the coveted MCS Security Shopping Centre of the Year Award, while Central Park at 152- 158 St George’s Terrace, has walked away with the Mizco Commercial Property of the Year Award at the Property Council’s 2016 WA Property Awards.

The 2016 WA property Awards, which this year welcomed back the commercial sector, celebrates the success of the WA retail and commercial property industry with a focus on marketing, management and innovation excellence.

Lakeside Joondalup was awarded the coveted Shopping Centre of the Year Award for its excellence in marketing and centre management and took home the second major award for Retail Marketing Campaign of the Year.

In an extremely competitive market, Lakeside Joondalup has led the way in producing engaging marketing campaigns that attract and retain customers.

Lakeside Joondalup Centre Manager Gemma Hannigan said the awards from the State’s peak property industry body were great recognition for the centre management team.

“Since it was built in 1994 Lakeside Joondalup has been an integral part of the local Joondalup community and the completion of our $320million redevelopment in 2014, that made us the biggest shopping centre in the State, has really allowed us to evolve into a major shopping destination for Perth,” she said.

The marketing, brand and digital awards focussed on shifting perceptions about scale and accessibility to the centre and successfully repositioned Lakeside Joondalup as one of Perth’s major shopping destinations.

“The highlight of our marketing campaign was a unique “World’s Longest Catwalk” fashion parade on a VIP train from Perth’s CBD right to the Lakeside  Joondalup Station Square entry that gained significant coverage in traditional and social media channels,” she said.

Central Park at 152-158 St George’s Terrace, marked the return of the commercial property sector to the awards set up by taking home the Mizco WA Commercial Property of the Year Award.

Central Park was recognised for its ongoing vision to foster community engagement with tenants, charities, NGO’s and the greater community at large through an annual program of events.

“JLL is particularly proud of our performance winning awards across all centre sizes, marketing sub-categories and winning both marketing and management awards.  This further highlights JLL’s dominance in retail management and the strength of our excellent WA team,” said JLL’s WA Head of Retail Property Management, Ann Manifis.

“JLL manages over 400,000m2 of retail in WA for some of Australia’s most prestigious clients, and these awards are testament to the high standards of the Property and Asset Management Team.  Once again JLL has demonstrated that it is unquestionably the best retail property and asset management team in Australia,” added Ms Manifis.

The second major commercial award, the Energy Tec WA Commercial Property of the Year- Innovation Award, went to the David Malcolm Justice Centre at 28 Barrack Street, Perth.

Through Mirvac’s strong commitment to sustainability and creating energy efficient buildings with low operating costs, the David Malcolm Justice Centre features many ESD initiatives. The two most significant being the Perth CBD’s first tri-generation plant and the grey water treatment plant which are predicted to provide energy savings of 30% and potable water savings of 40% compared to an average building in Perth.

The Property Council would like to congratulate all winners and our event sponsors: MCS Security, Energy Tec, Mizco, Westralian, Centre Graphics, Buchan Group & ISPT.
