  • March 06, 2015

WA Launch For Property Male Champions of ChangeThe Property Council of Australia has launched the Property Male Champions of Change in Western Australia at a breakfast sponsored by EY and Bankwest. The Property Councils is leading the formation of the Property Male Champions of Change to drive gender diversity in the historically male-dominated industry. This initiative builds on the transformational work achieved by the founding Male Champions of Change group, established in April 2010 by Elizabeth Broderick, the Sex Discrimination Commissioner of the Australian Human Rights Commission. Agreed actions are pursued with a focus on leadership, talent development, public advocacy and accountability.Research undertaken by EY, presented by Partner Karen Dill-Mackey, proved that encouraging gender diversity in senior leadership is not only the right thing to but leads to greater profitability and higher levels of innovation. The Property Council has recognised that in failing to address gender diversity, the industry is missing out on a huge opportunity to boost performance and profitability. As the peak body for the industry, the Property Council established its first Women in Property committee in 2014. The committee works to foster the participation of women in the Property Council and the broader industry through projects based on recognising talent within the industry, increasing the participation of women in property as well as networking opportunities.
