WA Apartment Advocacy hosts Perth’s first pop up apartment
The Member for Perth John Carey MLA has launched Perth’s first pop up apartment in the CBD, hosted by WA Apartment Advocacy.
John Carey launched the three-day Forrest Chase pop-up apartment, fully furnished by Ikea, this week to give West Australians an opportunity to test whether apartment living is for them.
Mr Carey said the pop-up was an innovative way to engage with the community on the topic of housing choice.
Every person who visits the pop-up has the chance to win a free month living at the newly completed Oracle apartments by Blackburne Property Group – there are 12 in total to give away.
WAAA Director Samantha Reece said that about 60 per cent of the respondents to WAAA’s survey to date showed some level of hesitancy about apartment living – even though they were otherwise genuinely interested.
“We want to encourage a whole range of people to respond to this competition including families and elderly so that we can test to see what extras we may need to add in time, so that we can sufficiently cater apartment living to all ages.” Ms Reece said.
Paul Blackburne, Director of Blackburne Property said many of the people who try this lifestyle will be at the centre of a range of infrastructure projects being delivered in a short time frame, including Yagan Square and Perth Stadium.
“This coupled with the facilities at Oracle, means that these residents will enjoy a truly cosmopolitan lifestyle.” Mr Blackburne said.
The 12-month social experiment is also being documented and will be showcased nationally in mid-2018.
