Victoria to gain a new leader from WA

Deputy Executive Director Alix Rhodes, will leave the WA Division to take up the role of Executive Director, Outer Melbourne at the Victorian Planning Authority at the end of February.

Alix’s new role will be responsible for driving the transformation of great precincts and unlocking innovative and timely development outcomes in the greenfield areas, strategic sites and national employment and innovation clusters of outer Melbourne. Alix will lead a team of professionals to collaborate with communities, local councils and state agencies to streamline planning processes and better link infrastructure delivery for improved community outcomes.

There have been many achievements across advocacy and our commercial work that Alix has steered, ranging from our strong election agenda in 2017 to reshaping our advocacy program and re-casting our conference programs.

Alix has produced hard hitting research on the performance of state and local government planning systems and provided thought leadership and ongoing outcomes through the Property Council’s Big and Small Ideas for Perth report.

As a woman, Alix has played a significant role in promoting vive la differénce as well as enabling women in the property industry to stand up, step out and steer a new path in their career and create an organisational culture that values diversity.

Throughout her time at Property Council Alix has been a role model of authentic leadership where she has helped build a new WA team to achieve excellence; developed open and trusting relationships with stakeholders and brought forward the importance of the industry’s social licence to operate by including homelessness in WA as a key priority for the Division.

A particular legacy from Alix’s work is her relationship building with members; engagement with government on policy; and collaborations with other industry and not-for-profit groups to add value to our members and align interests in a congested space.

If you would like to send Alix your well wishes she can be contacted through [email protected]
