Victoria’s future ports capacityInfrastructure Victoria has released a discussion paper on the need, timing and location of a second container port in Victoria.The discussion paper invites stakeholders to comment on Victoria’s future ports capacity, particularly with respect to:Ultimate capacity at the Port of Melbourne;Future demand for Victorian import and export trade volumes, as well as interstate trade volumes;Changes in international and national supply chains;Distributions of trades across Victorian commercial ports; andFeasibility, advantages and drawbacks of a second container port at Port of Hastings or Bay WestThe Property Council believes that the effective management of freight supply chains and the industries that support them are a critical part of the state’s economic success.
