Vale Dick Whittington OAM
Dick Whittington was the first Executive Director of the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) and in the early days he used to work out of his own office in the Epworth Building in Pirie Street.
Dick originally did all the work himself without any staff assistance. BOMA Executive Members were often asked to write articles for press releases or front up to the media for interviews. Members were also asked to put forward names and contact prospective luncheon speakers. Lunches were held at the Adelaide Country Club with around 80-100 attendees.
Dick wasn’t into promoting himself, he was very humble, and was happy to stay in the background. Through his time he enjoyed reading and keeping up to date with what was happening in the property industry.
Dick passed away at the Walkerville Residential Care, Adelaide at the age of 93. He was a life member of the Property Council of Australia.
