Vaccine rollout and four phase plan letter to Premier
The Property Council has welcomed the National Cabinet’s agreement of a four-phase pathway out of COVID-19, a significant move towards reopening Australia’s borders and revitalising the economy.
The National Cabinet four-phase plan includes:
Phase 1 (Current Phase) – Vaccinate, prepare and pilot. Continue to suppress the virus for the purpose of minimising community transmission.
Phase 2 (Post Vaccination Phase) – Seek to minimise serious COVID-19 related illness, hospitalisation and fatality.
Phase 3 (Consolidation Phase) – Manage COVID-19 consistent with public health management of other infectious diseases via risk mitigation and prevention measures such as hygiene, tracing and testing and some travel restrictions.
Phase 4 (Final Phase) – Manage COVID-19 consistent with public health management of other infectious diseases via risk mitigation and prevention measures such as hygiene, tracing and testing.
Unfortunately, this plan does not define the settings under which businesses will have to operate until various vaccination thresholds are met (when these are defined).
Nationally, we have made a submission expressing our concerns regarding the need for clarity and clear direction of settings under which businesses will require to operate during this four-phase rollout period. We have also written to the Queensland Premier, The Hon Annastacia Palaszczuk (MP), expressing these concerns and informing her of our National submission to the Prime Minister, The Hon Scott Morrison MP.
We hope to soon be given some clear definitions for business operation settings, and work with the State on further initiatives to support CBD recovery and drive community confidence.
