Upcoming Event: Wollongong City Deal

Following recent local momentum around a city deal for Wollongong and the announcement of various city deals across the nation, we will be holding an Illawarra Business Lunch on Friday 9 August to explore the possibility of a city deal for our region and what the next steps may be for us.

The city of Wollongong plays a vital role in driving the economic growth for the region, providing jobs for our local people and important transport connections to Greater Sydney. To enable continued growth, support from government and the seamless integration of priorities at local, state and federal government levels is essential.

Join us to hear from Geoff Roberts AM, Chief Coordinator for the Western Sydney Deal, Deputy Chief Commissioner and Economic Commissioner for the Greater Sydney Commission who will discuss what we can learn from other city deals already in place including Western Sydney, the process of setting up city deals, and some of the lessons learnt so far.

Geoff will also be joined by the General Manager of Campbelltown City Council, Lindy Deitz, the General Manager of Wollongong City Council, Greg Doyle and CEO of RDA Illawarra, Debra Murphy to discuss the opportunities and challenges ahead for our region, and what a city deal for Wollongong could mean for us.
