UNITYWATER’S NEW A&C SYSTEM

While building stimulus packages such as the HomeBuilder grant are fuelling strong interest in residential development, the tight eligibility timeframes for construction mean that timely approvals have never been more critical.

As a result, Unitywater is continuing to streamline the way it manages connections applications to give developers greater control over the time and cost of connecting to the water and sewerage network.

Since the introduction of the Unitywater Accreditation and Certification (A&C) System in 2017, the average connections approval time has fallen from up to days to just ten business days.

This change to the way applications are handled has enabled developers to:

• Access to a larger selection of assessment managers (Accredited Entities/Registered Certifiers), via Unitywater’s Accreditation Register:

• Fewer delays due to requests for information

• Faster asset handover and Certificate of Completion timeframes

Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Greater transparency of the connections application process for all stakeholders.

Unitywater will progressively transfer its customers to the system over the next 11 months. From 1 July 2021 all applications that involve non-trunk infrastructure for provision of services to future customers will be assessed this way.

To provide customers with more information on how the A&C System operates, Unitywater will be holding an online forum for customers on Wednesday, 12 August 2020.

To register, please email your name, email address and mobile phone number to [email protected] by close of business on Friday, 31 July 2020.

Further details about the A&C System can be found on the Unitywater website or by contacting Praveen Chand, Accreditation and Certification Coordinator, at [email protected] or on (07) 5431 8541.
