Townsville SDA Amendments

The Property Council has provided a submission on the proposed amendments to the Townsville State Development Area (TSDA) Development Scheme.

In the submission the Property Council acknowledges the proposed amendments will assist in better advancing the objectives of the TSDA and facilitate development outcomes.  However, the submission outlines a number of improvements that should be included in the amendments to provide more certainty for investors and the development industry.

The key points raised in the submission include:
– Better alignments between the TSDA Development Scheme and the Townsville City Council’s planning scheme
– Support for reducing the number of precincts from 12 to 7
– Broadening of the self-assessable criteria to operational works applications
– Recommend that a support strategy for infrastructure delivery should be developed
– Recommend introducing lower levels of assessment
