Tomazos Group wins tender for new CBD underground carpark

Local company the Tomazos Group has been awarded the tender to build the new 4-space, three level underground car park, which will create 60 direct jobs and support an additional 165 jobs during construction.

The aim of this project is to create more green space in the CBD, by freeing up four heat-generating ground level car parks for re-development.

This means instead of unsightly car parks, we will see improved parklands, green initiatives, walkways and improved amenities.

This project marks the start of the State Square redevelopment, which will ultimately see the relocation of the bus terminal, the demolition of the Chan building and improved and activated laneways, walkways, cycle paths and relaxing/social areas.

Construction of the underground car park has commenced and will take approximately 15 months to complete.
