Three years on

Next week is the third anniversary of the NSW Government’s announcement of a bold new vision for Newcastle’s city centre.  Since providing that market certainty, over $1 billion worth of private investment has poured into Newcastle.

To mark the occasion, The Hon. Mike Baird MP, Premier of NSW, will be the guest of honour and keynote speaker at December Hunter Lunch. It will be standing room only when the Premier takes the stage at City Hall to address 3 industry professionals.

The Premier is expected to outline the progress his government has made during that time – which has been significant:

  • Ugly, archaic infrastructure is being removed from the CBD
  • 8 new connections are open between Hunter St and the waterfront
  • UrbanGrowth NSW has completed their Community Engagement Process
  • The $17 million Mine Subsidence Remediation Fund is open for business
  • Creating Transport for Newcastle

But as well as receiving a report card, those gathered will be keen to hear the Premier’s timetable for finalising designs for transformation of the City Centre and new policy settings to unlock residential housing supply on the urban fringes.
