Three new suburbs south of Campbelltown

Last week the first major land release in a decade was announced in Greater Sydney, with a new vision for the Greater Macarthur region.

7,700 hectares of land will be released south of Campbelltown and create new communities at Menangle Park, Mount Gilead and Wilton Junction.

This will allow for the construction of 35,000 new homes along with schools, public transport, road upgrades and green space. Planning will ensure that the rural lifestyle and heritage of the area will remain. Work on new homes is expected to commence in Mount Gilead within the next two years.

The Property Council welcomes the land release as a crucial element to aid housing supply meet demand, which will help put downward pressure on house prices. Positioning new homes close to jobs, transport, shops and recreational areas makes sense.

The vision for the area is set out in the Preliminary Strategy and Action Plan for the Greater Macarthur Land Release Area. To provide your feedback on the strategy click here
