The next wave of commercial development: Who, What, Where?
For their final event of the 2014 calendar, the Property Council’s Queensland Commercial and Corporate Real Estate (CCRE) committee looked beyond the current challenges for commercial stock in Brisbane, and focused on the trends and technology that will underpin the next wave of development.
The breakfast seminar, titled The Big Shake Up featured key note presentations from James Calder, Principal and Founder – Calder Consultants, Scott Reid, Regional Manager, Systems – Cisco and James Tuma, National Director – Urbis.
Each presenter focused on an aspect of the headline questions about the future of our city; Who will be occupying the commercial office spaces? What will those spaces look like? And where will they be developed?
The presentations ranged from overviews of Brisbane’s spatial development and future growth corridors, to the latest in ABW and workspace trends, to the long term possibilities for technologically integrated workplaces and cities.
The key note presentations were then followed by a moderated Q&A, hosted by Luke Fraser, Development Director – Howard Smith Wharves. For the Q&A our panel was joined by Chris Chapple, Head of Office & Industrial Property Services – Charter Hall, who provided his on-the-ground perspective on the future development trends.
The Property Council would like to thank our panel for contributing to a highlight event in the 2014 CCRE event calendar. We would also like to thank Luke Fraser for encouraging a unique and lively conversation among our panel, and the CCRE event sub-committee for formulating the event.
The Property Council must also thank our joint sponsors Herbert Smith Freehills and Brookfield for their ongoing support of the breakfast seminar series in 2014. Without the support of our sponsors, this sell-out series would not be possible.
