The Industrial Evolution

The Industrial Evolution cocktail event, held at The Loft in West End on Wednesday 5 September, provided an opportunity for the Queensland industrial property sector to connect, network and gain insights on the state of the market.

Matthew Cox, National Industrial Delivery Manager for Charter Hall and Sass J-Baleh, Director – JLL, provided audience members with presentations on the economic factors and industry trends due to affect the sector, and engaged in a fast-paced audience driven panel discussion, moderated by Michael McVeigh, Managing Director – McVeigh Consultants, and Chair of the Property Council’s Queensland Industrial Committee.

Sass provided an overall view of national market conditions and spoke to concerns of industrial land shortage in the Sydney region, along with the benefits this could present for SEQ. Sass concluded that planning legislation across the nation needs to keep up with industrial demand. The current rezoning of Sydney land to allow for both residential and industrial properties was described as a welcome development.

Matthew’s presentation outlined the current rise of automated vehicles operating within warehouses and automated case picking, technologies that he believes, will transform the industrial sector as we know it.

The Property Council would like to thank Matthew, Sass and Michael for providing their expert insight into the future of the industrial sector. Thank you also to our event sponsor, HPC Urban and our supporting sponsor, Charter Hall.
