The Gold Coast’s Next Big Economic Drivers
The Gold Coast’s next big economic drivers were discussed at the Property Council’s last 2018 Gold Coast lunch. Attendees were given the latest information on the health, technology and planning initiatives occurring on the coast.
Di Dixon, Project Director for Griffith University Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct, spoke to the redevelopment of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Village into a mixed-use community integrated health and knowledge precinct. The 200-hectare site has created 9,200 jobs and has the potential to create a further 11,000 once fully developed.
Following Di’s presentation on the health and knowledge precinct, Toni Peggrem, Executive Director Strategy and Planning for Gold Coast Health, and Paul Milford, Networks Principal for Telstra, outlined recent technological announcements and their significance for the Gold Coast economy.
Bryce Melville, Partner- MinterEllison and member of the Property Council’s Gold Coast Committee, facilitated a fast-paced, audience-driven panel discussion. Following the speeches guests were invited to network over drinks in The Star’s relaxing outdoor bar.
The Property Council would like to thank Di, Toni, Paul and Bryce for their engaging conversation and thank you also to our sponsor, Rider Levett Bucknall.
